Viral video: Balochistan CM orders arrest of killers of couple
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti on Sunday ordered the arrest of culprits involved in the brutal murder of a couple after a video showing their killing went viral on social media.
The video purportedly shows a group of around 20 men leading a woman into a desert, apparently in Balochistan, before gunning her down. Later, the same men brought a man and shot him dead.
The couple reportedly contracted a love marriage some time ago. Rights activists described the incident as an honour killing.
In a post on X, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that he had issued orders to the Balochistan Police to take immediate action.
Speaking at a press conference, Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said that efforts were being made to determine the location of the incident and the suspects, and pledged that the criminals would be brought to justice.
The spokesperson said that Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti had termed such brutal acts as not only intolerable but also a serious insult to social values and human dignity.
Bugti made it clear that those challenging the writ of the state will be dealt with sternly, and no one can be allowed to take the law into their hands.
According to the sources, the couple had tied the knot about a year and a half ago. The tribe members deceived them by inviting them to a party, took them to a deserted place, and killed them.
