Bangladesh defeat Pakistan by 7 wickets in first T20
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in the first T20 played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday, taking 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Bangladesh won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat — a decision that proved challenging for the Pakistani batsmen.
From the outset, Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards against the Bangladeshi bowling attack.
Pakistan lost their first wicket in the second over at a score of 18 when Saim Ayub was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed after scoring just 6 runs.
From there, wickets continued to fall rapidly, and at one point, Pakistan had lost 6 wickets for just 46 runs.
Mohammad Haris scored 4, captain Salman Ali Agha 3. Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah were the only ones who resisted, building a 70-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
However, Fakhar was run out after scoring 44 runs.
Khushdil Shah, batting at number seven, contributed 17 runs. Abbas Afridi was the second-highest scorer after Fakhar with 22 runs, while debutant Salman Mirza failed to open his account.
After a dismal batting display, Pakistan were bowled out for just 110 runs on the third ball of the final over.
Pakistani batters played 66 dot balls in total, giving Bangladesh a target of only 111 runs.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took 3 wickets, Mustafizur Rahman claimed 2, and Mehidy Hasan and Tanzim Hasan took 1 wicket each.
The hosts chased down the 111-run target with ease, losing only 3 wickets in the process and achieving victory in the 16th over.
For Bangladesh, Parvez Hossain remained unbeaten on 56, while Towhid Hridoy scored 36 and Zakir Ali added 15 runs.
From Pakistan, debutant Salman Mirza took 2 wickets, and Abbas Afridi picked up 1 wicket.
