6 killed, 12 injured as Karachi picnic bus overturns near Makli due to overspeeding
A bus carrying picnickers from Karachi to Keenjhar Lake overturned near Makli on Sunday due to overspeeding, leaving six people dead and 12 others injured.
The accident occurred when the vehicle lost control and veered off the road, plunging into a roadside ditch.
Rescue sources confirmed that all six deceased passengers were residents of Karachi’s Orangi Town. The victims have been identified as Abrar, Arbab, Bashar, Rauf, Asad, and Ehsanullah.
The injured and deceased were shifted to Civil Hospital Thatta, where medical aid is being administered to the survivors.
Rescue teams remained active at the site following the incident, while heavy machinery was called in to recover the wrecked bus. Officials cited overspeeding as the primary cause of the crash.
The bodies are being returned to Karachi after completion of legal formalities.
Eyewitnesses said that women and children were also aboard the bus, though their condition has not yet been confirmed.
