Pakistan win Asian Men’s U-16 Volleyball Championship

Pakistan beat defending champion Iran in final, remain undefeated in tournament

Pakistan on Saturday made history by winning the Asia Under-16 Volleyball Championship for the first time.

The national team defeated defending champions Iran by three sets to two in the final played in Thailand.

In the final match, Pakistan made a brilliant comeback after losing the first two sets and played an exceptional game in the next three sets to win the match by 22-25, 21-25, 30-28, 25-21 and 15-10.

Muhammad Junaid and Faizanullah played brilliantly for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the team on winning the Asian Under-16 Volleyball Championship.

In their separate messages, the two leaders said the young players made the nation proud with their skill and passion.

“Success is the result of teamwork, discipline and hard work of coaches,” the president said, adding, “I am sure that the team will continue its success with the same spirit in the future and will bring more glory to Pakistan.”

While expressing his happiness, the prime minister pointed out that Pakistan remained undefeated throughout the tournament.

“The entire nation is proud of its youth,” PM Shehbaz said, adding, “We pray that Allah Almighty grant more successes to the Pakistani team in the future.”
