Deputy PM Ishaq Dar leaves for US to attend high-level meetings
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday left for the United States, where he is scheduled to attend high-level meetings in New York.
According to sources, after staying in London tonight, Dar will leave for New York tomorrow.
Ishaq Dar will chair the Security Council meeting on July 22, where he will present Pakistan’s stance on the changing situation in the region.
During the visit, Ishaq Dar is also expected to have an important meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, during which global, regional and security issues will be discussed.
According to sources, the deputy prime minister is also likely to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio next week, in which detailed consultations are expected on security and peace and stability in South Asia against the backdrop of the recent tensions between Pakistan and India.
According to government sources, the aim of Dar’s visit is to effectively highlight Pakistan’s position at international forums and strengthen important ties at the diplomatic level.
