Bloomberg terms COAS Asim Munir’s visit to US boost for Pakistan’s economy
According to the recent report published by Bloomberg, an American financial news company, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s recent visit to the US was pivotal for Pakistan’s economy.
Last month, on June 19, US President Donald Trump hosted Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the White House, Washington, to hold some crucial discussions over security matters, regional stability and bilateral ties.
They both agreed on joint counterterrorism efforts to curb regional threats.
ISPR issued a formal statement after this meeting, stating that “Trump lauded Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability, and appreciated the robust counterterrorism cooperation between the two states”.
“Discussions also encompassed avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in multiple domains, including trade, economic development, mines and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies,” the statement continued.
The US president also commended Field Marshal Munir’s “leadership and decisiveness during a period of complex regional dynamics”.
As per the recent report by Bloomberg, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is currently holding meetings in the United States to seal major trade deals.
It says that, “A delegation led by Muhammad Aurangzeb held a ‘productive meeting’ with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington”.
“Relations between Islamabad and Washington are showing signs of improvement in recent months after a prolonged diplomatic chill. Last month, US President Donald Trump welcomed Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, for rare talks at the White House that were followed by Pakistan recommending Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize,” states Bloomberg’s report.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry had regarded the recent trade negotiations as “encouraging headway” for Pakistan’s economy.
