‘Zero tolerance’: FO affirms Pakistan’s policy against terrorism, rejects allegations
Pakistan has reaffirmed its relentless commitment to counter-terrorism, strongly condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, while calling for collective global efforts to tackle the menace.
In an official statement issued by the Foreign Office on Friday, Pakistan stressed that its policy is based on “zero tolerance” for terrorism and that international cooperation remains a cornerstone of its approach.
“Pakistan condemns terrorism in all forms and manifestations; zero tolerance and international cooperation against terrorism are cornerstone of our policy,” the statement read.
Referring to its long-standing role in the global war on terror, the Foreign Office stated that “Pakistan has been, and is a frontline state against terrorism, and has contributed tremendously towards achievement of global peace through its counter-terrorism efforts,” citing the recent apprehension of Sharifullah, the alleged mastermind of the deadly Abbey Gate bombing in Kabul.
Commenting on the Pahalgam incident—which occurred in the internationally recognised disputed region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K)—the statement said investigations are still inconclusive. It also rejected attempts to link the incident to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), stating that such claims “belie ground realities.”
“Pakistan has effectively and comprehensively dismantled concerned outfits, arrested and prosecuted the leadership, and deradicalised its cadres,” the Foreign Office noted.
The statement further criticised India for what it called a pattern of misusing terrorism-related designations for political motives. “India has a track record of exploiting such designations to push anti-Pakistan propaganda to divert international attention from its irresponsible and rogue behaviour, including ongoing human rights atrocities, especially in IIOJ&K,” it said.
While acknowledging that some matters may relate to U.S. domestic law, Pakistan emphasised the need for fairness and inclusivity in global counter-terrorism frameworks. It also urged the international community to proscribe groups like Majeed Brigade as aliases of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
“Pakistan continues to remain a counter-terrorism bulwark through unparalleled sacrifices and efficacy,” the statement concluded, calling on the global community to adopt “objective and non-discriminatory policies” in the fight against terrorism.
