Food department in Peshawar mandates sugar sales at ex-mill rate
In Peshawar, the Food Department has announced new guidelines to guarantee that sugar is sold at the ex-mill rate.
According to the notification, from July 15, the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs165 per kg, while with an increase of Rs2 every month, this price will reach Rs171 per kg by October 15. A formal notification has also been issued in this regard.
The notification has issued instructions to all districts to ensure the sale of sugar at the ex-mill rate.
It further stated that the ex-mill price of sugar has been fixed at Rs165 per kg from July 15, while with an increase of Rs2 every month, this price will reach Rs171 per kg by October 15.
The notification has clarified that the retail price should not be more than Rs8 above the ex-mill rate, while rent, utility bills and labor costs can be included in determining the retail price.
Furthermore, district-wise differences in sugar prices can be made according to geographical conditions.
The Food Department has directed all Deputy Commissioners and concerned authorities to ensure the implementation of prices, submit reports on a daily basis and take legal action in case of violation.
