Jhelum: 300 people, including police team, trapped in floods
At least 300 people, including a six-member police team, were left stranded in the floodwaters in Jhelum on Thursday.
The police officials, including the SHO of Chautala police station, sat in a tractor trolley to save their lives and remained trapped for several hours due to the fast flow of water. However, one Constable was swept away in the water.
The intensity of the floodwaters was such that rescue teams faced severe difficulties in extracting the police personnel.

The district administration and rescue workers later managed to rescue the trapped police team after strenuous efforts.
A state of emergency has been declared in the area, while the authorities have asked residents to stay away from areas considered dangerous.
Several areas in and around Jhelum have been flooded after recent rains, and the situation is expected to worsen.
