Heavy rains disrupt air operations at Islamabad International Airport, delaying over 30 flights
Heavy rains in Islamabad and surrounding areas have significantly disrupted air operations at Islamabad International Airport, leading to delays for over 30 domestic and international flights and causing considerable inconvenience for passengers.
According to airport sources, British Airways flight BK 2160 to the UK departed three hours late, while PIA flight PK 233 to Dubai departed one hour late.
A private airline flight to Karachi took off at 3:45am instead of its scheduled time of 1:35am, and a Saudi Airlines flight to Jeddah was also delayed.
The flights to Dubai and Doha were also delayed by more than an hour, while Baku flight J2-144 departed at 4:27am instead of its scheduled time of 3:44am. The flight to Muscat departed at 5:00am instead of 4:00am.
Flights to Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Turkey were also delayed for several hours, while flights to Kuwait and Dubai scheduled to depart at 5am have not yet departed. Two PIA flights, PK 741 and PK 451, are also awaiting departure.
The private airline’s flight ER 811, which was scheduled to depart at 8am, will now take off at 8pm, while the 9am flight to Dammam is now likely to depart at 3pm.
Airline officials have appealed to passengers to reach the airport on time to avoid any inconvenience and to contact their respective airline or flight enquiry before departure to get the latest information.
