Severe flooding from Koh Suleiman impacts Rajanpur, isolates villages and destroys crops
Severe flooding from the Koh Suleiman mountain range has affected numerous areas in Rajanpur, isolating many villages and causing significant damage to standing crops.
Meanwhile, a significant flood risk has been identified at Mangla on the Jhelum River.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a warning, predicting that inflow into the Jhelum River may increase from 350,000 to 450,000 cusecs. All relevant agencies have been advised to remain on high alert.
Reports from Kashmore indicate moderate flooding at Guddu Barrage on the Indus River, with an increase of 10,000 cusecs in water flow recorded over the past 24 hours.
Current Situation of Dams
According to a WAPDA spokesperson:
- Tarbela Dam: Inflow is 223,900 cusecs, and outflow is 197,600 cusecs.
- Mangla Dam: Inflow is 37,900 cusecs, and outflow is 10,000 cusecs.
- Chashma Barrage: Inflow is 285,100 cusecs, and outflow is 214,800 cusecs.
- Head Marala (Chenab River): Inflow is 73,500 cusecs, and outflow is 47,200 cusecs.
- Nowshera (Kabul River): Inflow and outflow are both 35,000 cusecs.
Water Reservoir Details

Tarbela Reservoir: Water level is at 1,530 feet, with total storage of 4.603 million acre-feet.

Mangla Reservoir: Water level is at 1,186.70 feet, with total storage of 3.467 million acre-feet.

Chashma Reservoir: Water level is at 648 feet, with total storage of 258,000 acre-feet.
The total usable water storage across all three reservoirs stands at 8.328 million acre-feet.
The WAPDA spokesperson indicated that the data on water flow at Tarbela, Mangla, and Chashma dams is based on the average of the last 24 hours, while inflow and outflow information at other locations is recorded at 6am.
Relevant agencies have been alerted to implement emergency measures to address potential flooding situations. The public has been urged to relocate to safer areas and take necessary precautions.
