KP reaches agreement on 6/5 Senate seat distribution formula
The government and opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have made significant strides in negotiations over the Senate elections, agreeing on a 6/5 formula for seat distribution.
Sources reveal that a late-night meeting facilitated considerable consensus on this approach, which allocates six seats to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and five to opposition parties. Further discussions are ongoing to address remaining issues and internal differences within the provincial government.
Under the proposed formula, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will receive six Senate seats, while opposition parties will be allocated five.
Although a preliminary agreement has been reached, some issues remain under discussion, particularly the resolution of internal differences within the provincial government and PTI.
The responsibility for securing the withdrawal of PTI’s nominated candidates has been assigned to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and consultations on this sensitive matter are set to continue today.
