The continuous rainfall in Punjab has wreaked havoc in many cities, paralysing daily life.

Streets and low-lying areas in several cities remain submerged. The overnight rain in cities, including Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhelum, Kasur, Okara, Gujranwala, and Sargodha, has caused several feet of water to accumulate in streets and low-lying areas, causing severe hardship to residents.

The risk of landslides in Azad Kashmir heightened after many areas, including Kotli, Pallandri, Bagh, Neelum, Jhelum Valley and Poonch received heavy rains.

A major landslide triggered by heavy rains at Tattapani forced the closure of the Karakoram Highway, disrupting access to remote regions.

Meanwhile, authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have warned of potential glacier lake outbursts and flash floods due to persistent rainfall in mountainous zones.

In Balochistan, heavy rains have caused the Nari River to overflow, impacting Bolan and Sibi districts.

In Sindh, Sunday’s downpour left several urban centres submerged, with drainage systems overwhelmed, and water still stagnant in many neighbourhoods.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall in the next 48 hours and issued alerts to authorities to remain on high alert.
