PML-N gets another reserved seat in KP Assembly as ECP announces its verdict
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced its verdict regarding the allocation of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, which has granted an additional seat to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
ECP approved the PML-N’s petition to revise the allocation of reserved seats among the parties, constitutionally.
As per the new allocation:
- PML-N and JUI-F have each received 9 reserved seats
- Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) received 5
- PTI-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) and Awami National Party (ANP) each secured 1 additional seat.
Additionally, PML-N has also been awarded a reserved minority seat in the KP Assembly. However, a coin toss will decide the recipient of another minority seat between PML-N and JUI-F, as both have an equal claim.
For the 26th women’s reserved seat, the ECP stated that a coin toss will also be held between PTI-P and ANP, since both are tied in eligibility.
