The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has summoned former federal minister and PTI leader Azam Swati on July 17 in connection with the Kohistan mega corruption scandal.

The anti-corruption watchdog has also called KP Assembly member Amjad Ali for investigations related to allegations of assets beyond declared income.

The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued summons to both leaders, stating that Azam Swati is being called in a case involving alleged embezzlement of approximately Rs3.6 billion in public funds.

He is required to appear at NAB’s Peshawar office on July 17.

The NAB declared the records provided by Azam Swati during his previous appearance as insufficient and warned of strict action in case of non-compliance with the summons.

Meanwhile, Amjad Ali has also received a notice from the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over accusations of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.

He has been instructed to submit complete records of his assets, written responses to NAB’s questionnaire, income tax returns, and tax details by July 17.

NAB sources confirmed that investigations will be conducted based on the allegations and submitted documents, and further proceedings will be decided accordingly.
