Pakistan Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Tehran on Sunday on an official visit and met his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni, to discuss bilateral relations, including border management and the facilitation of religious pilgrims.

Eskandar Momeni welcomed Mohsin Naqvi at Imam Khomeini International Airport with other senior officials from Iran’s Ministry of Interior. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, Consul Aftab Butt, and other diplomatic staff were also present.

During the meeting in Tehran, both ministers reaffirmed the importance of strong Pakistan-Iran ties. The Iranian Interior Minister welcomed Naqvi, calling him a “brother” and expressing hope that the visit would further strengthen the relationship between the two neighbouring nations.

Naqvi emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to close cooperation with Iran, describing it as a brotherly neighbour. He was hopeful that the upcoming Pakistan-Iran-Iraq trilateral conference would help address issues faced by pilgrims, especially those travelling to and from religious sites.

The Pakistani minister conveyed well wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The trilateral conference, being held in Tehran at Pakistan’s request, will focus on cross-border coordination, the facilitation of pilgrims, and other regional matters. Interior ministers from Iran and Iraq are also scheduled to participate.

Naqvi will have a packed schedule in Tehran on Monday, including attending the trilateral summit and holding a key meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
