Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s creative industry, particularly in film funding and international promotion.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Nayab director Umair Nasir Ali, held during his official visit to Beijing. The two discussed the growing global recognition of Pakistani cinema and the role of cultural diplomacy in shaping Pakistan’s image abroad.

Speaking to APP, Umair said they discussed cinema’s potential as a tool of soft power and national storytelling.

Nayab recently won the Special Jury Award at the SCO Film Festival in Chongqing, China, adding to its accolades from festivals in Europe, North America, and South Asia.

The minister congratulated Umair on the film’s success, calling it “a proud representation of Pakistan’s creative voice.”

They also discussed the film’s central themes — resilience, national identity, and quiet patriotism.

Umair thanked the Ministry of Information and the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) for supporting meaningful, globally relevant cinema.
