Pakistan Railways generates record-breaking Rs93 billion revenue in FY 2024-25
Pakistan Railways has achieved a milestone by collecting record-breaking revenue of Rs93 billion in fiscal year 2024-25 in the national carriage’s 78-year history.
Railways earned Rs47.5 billion from passenger trains and Rs31.5 billion from freight services, according to the sources. Additional revenue sources included Rs1.5 billion from military traffic, Rs3 billion from other coaching services, and Rs9.5 billion from miscellaneous streams.
Pakistan Railways had generated Rs88 billion in total revenue in the previous fiscal year.
Karachi Division topped the list of the highest revenue generators in the passenger train sector with Rs14.75 billion, followed by Multan with Rs5 billion and Sukkur with Rs4.8 billion.
In freight sector, Karachi Division also led the charts by generating Rs28 billion in total.
Railway minister appreciates team’s performance
Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, praised his team for outstanding performance.
“The railway management deserves appreciation for this remarkable achievement. I salute every worker who poured their sweat and effort into stabilising this national institution,” he added.
The minister announced to boost freight revenue by up to 70% in the coming fiscal year, emphasising the importance of freight services for financial sustainability.
