Saudi Arabia has put to death a citizen convicted of affiliating with a terrorist organisation and undergoing military training abroad, according to a report by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.

The individual was accused of adopting extremist ideology, affiliating with a terror group, travelling abroad to undergo weapons training, and planning attacks on security personnel and sites within Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the death sentence was carried out on Thursday in the Eastern Province.

Officials stated the measure aims to protect the country’s security and deter similar crimes.

Saudi Arabia has consistently maintained a tough stance against terrorism-related offences, carrying out executions of individuals convicted under anti-terror laws.
