The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday released the final remittance figures for the fiscal year 2025, reporting a substantial rise in inflows from overseas Pakistanis.

In June 2025 alone, remittances amounted to $3.4 billion, marking a 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the central bank, the total remittances received during FY2025 reached $38.3 billion — a significant rise of over $8 billion from FY2024’s figure of $30.3 billion.

Country-wise data shows that Saudi Arabia remained the leading contributor, with Pakistani expatriates sending home $823 million.

The Gulf nation continues to top the list due to its large Pakistani workforce.

Experts attribute the increase in remittances to growing trust among overseas Pakistanis, a push toward legal money transfer channels, and recent government initiatives aimed at facilitating smoother and more secure financial transfers.

The surge in remittance inflows is expected to provide critical support to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and offer some relief to the country’s economic challenges.
