Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will lead a nationwide protest movement from prison, his sister Aleema Khan revealed on Tuesday after meeting him at Adiala Jail. She said the protest strategy has been finalised by Khan and will soon be shared by the party leadership.

Speaking to the media at Gorakhpur checkpoint alongside sisters Noreen and Uzma Khan, Aleema said, “The 10th of Muharram has passed; now the party will announce the plan. Imran Khan has already given his roadmap.”

She added that the movement would be launched in defense of the rule of law, democracy, and in opposition to the proposed 26th Constitutional Amendment, which PTI claims is aimed at consolidating power and suppressing dissent.

Aleema further stated that Imran Khan “will lead the protest from jail” and said the former premier had told them, “I may be in jail, but I am free—those outside are the ones truly imprisoned.”

She criticised the government’s actions against PTI lawmakers and claimed that the suspension of 26 members was aimed at pleasing Maryam Nawaz. “Every wish of Maryam Nawaz is being fulfilled, but we are not under her control,” she said.

Meeting with family, restricted access

Only two of Imran Khan’s sisters, Noreen Khan and Uzma Khan, were allowed to meet him at Adiala Jail. Aleema Khan was reportedly denied permission. According to Noreen, “It’s always a joy to meet Imran Khan. He’s doing well, but is being treated worse than an average prisoner. He has no access to TV or newspapers, and nothing to read or write with.”

Meanwhile, Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, who is also incarcerated at Adiala Jail, met her sister-in-law Mehr-un-Nisa during family visitation hours.

PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Barrister Salman Safdar, and Zahid Abbas, also met the former prime minister.

On Tuesday, a large number of PTI workers had gathered outside Adiala Jail, and security was heightened. PTI leaders Salman Kharl, Advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Naeem Haider Panjotha, Tabish Farooq, Senator Faisal Chaudhry, and Khan’s cousin Qasim Khan were also present, although Qasim was denied a meeting with the detained leader.
