PM Shehbaz invites Etisalat Group to expand investment in Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday invited the UAE’s Etisalat Group to invest in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy, assuring the company of complete government support and facilitation.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with a five-member delegation of the Emirati telecommunications giant, Etisalat Group, led by its CEO Hatem Dowidar, the PM Office Media Wing said in a statement.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and senior officials from relevant institutions also attended the meeting.
The prime minister noted that the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates is rooted in shared culture, brotherhood, and religious values.
He appreciated the UAE’s continued investment in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy.
He reiterated that providing a business-friendly environment and creating attractive investment opportunities for foreign companies — including Emirati firms — remains among the government’s top priorities.
Etisalat CEO Hatem Dowidar praised the prime minister for his pro-investment policies, which he said had improved the overall business climate and opened new avenues for international investors.
Dowidar noted that Etisalat has been successfully operating in Pakistan for the past 19 years, and expressed strong interest in expanding its presence further.
He added that over 10,000 Pakistanis are currently employed by the company, contributing significantly to its success.
He also reaffirmed Etisalat’s commitment to long-term, sustainable investment in Pakistan’s telecom and digital economy.
