Ghani further revealed that an inquiry committee, headed by the Karachi Commissioner, has been formed to investigate the incident.

The committee is expected to submit details of 51 dilapidated buildings in the city within 24 hours, and a fact-finding report will be completed within two days.

He confirmed that legal action has already been decided against those responsible.

“Officials and building control officers involved in negligence will be included in the investigation,” said Ghani.

He also noted that the government is working on strict legislation to curb illegal constructions and prevent such tragedies in the future.

According to officials, the commissioner Karachi will complete a citywide survey of all dangerous buildings within two weeks, after which demolition operations will be launched immediately.
