In a heartening display of cross-border humanitarian support, Pakistani prosthetics company Bioniks has successfully fitted a war-affected girl from Gaza, Sidra, with a prosthetic arm.

The company announced on Thursday that the initiative was made possible with the support of their official partner in Jordan, Mufaaz, marking the beginning of a broader mission to aid people with disabilities in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.

Sidra, who lost her arm during the ongoing conflict, has become the first recipient under Bioniks’ humanitarian programme launched specifically for Gaza.

In a social media statement, the company said, “This marks the beginning of Bioniks’ mission to rehabilitate the disabled in Gaza. Sidra’s story reflects the resilience and courage of thousands of victims in the region.”

Bioniks expressed hope that their efforts would help restore mobility, confidence, hope, dignity, and independence to those impacted by war.

While the company did not specify how many individuals it plans to support in Gaza or outline a detailed roadmap, it affirmed that the mission would be long-term, sustained, and carried out in collaboration with regional partners.

Headquartered in Karachi, Bioniks specialises in creating affordable, advanced, and customised prosthetic limbs using 3D printing and smart sensor technology.

The company has previously earned recognition for its work with war-affected and disabled children in Pakistan and is now expanding its outreach to conflict zones beyond national borders.
