Pakistan Railways hikes fares by 2% following fuel price increase
In response to a recent hike in petroleum product prices, Pakistan Railways has announced a 2% increase in fares for all express, saloon, and shuttle trains, effective from July 4, 2025.
The decision comes after a significant rise in petrol and diesel prices earlier this month.
According to the official notification issued by Pakistan Railways, the revised fares will apply to passenger and mail/express trains operating across the country, requiring travellers to pay the adjusted rates starting this Thursday.
The fare revision follows the federal government’s July 1 decision to raise petrol and diesel prices for the next 15 days, based on recommendations by OGRA and the Ministry of Energy.
As per the Ministry of Finance’s notification, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs10.39, while petrol is now Rs8.36 more expensive per litre.
This brings the new price of diesel to Rs272.98 and petrol to Rs266.79 per litre.
