National Assembly Secretariat releases new party position
The National Assembly Secretariat has issued an updated party position in the lower house, revealing that out of the 336 total members, 333 are currently part of the house, while three women’s reserved seats remain vacant.
According to the Assembly spokesperson, the ruling alliance now commands the support of 237 members, while the opposition holds 95 seats, including 80 members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
The three vacant women’s seats include two reserved for PML-N, vacated after Sobia Shahid and Shehla Bano took oath as members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and one seat belonging to JUI-F’s Sadaf Ehsan, whose case is currently pending in the Supreme Court.

PML-N’s Irum Hamid has been elected to the National Assembly on a women’s reserved seat vacated by Bushra Anjum Butt, who joined the Senate. Irum is expected to take the oath in the next session.
Details of reserved seat restorations
Following the Supreme Court’s June 27 verdict, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) restored reserved seats in both the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
In the National Assembly, from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PML-N and the PPP have been allotted two seats each, while the JUI-F got one seat.
Similarly, one non-Muslim seat each for the PML-N, JUI-F, and PPP was also restored in the National Assembly.
In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 8 seats of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), 6 of the PML-N, and 5 of the PPP have been restored, while one reserved seat each of the Awami National Party and PTI Parliamentarians has been restored.
Similarly, two non-Muslim reserved seats for JUI, one each for PML-N and PPP, have also been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
In the Punjab Assembly, 21 reserved seats of the PML-N, one each of the PPP, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and the PML-Q have been restored.
Similarly, 2 reserved seats of the PML-N and one non-Muslim seat of the PPP have been restored in the Punjab Assembly.
In the Sindh Assembly, one reserved seat each for the PPP and MQM-P has been restored, while one non-Muslim seat for the PPP has also been restored.
Following the Election Commission’s decision, a total of 43 reserved seats have been restored for the PML-N, 14 for the PPP, 12 for the JUI-F, while one each for the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), PML-Q, Awami National Party (ANP), MQM Pakistan and PTI parliamentarians.
These changes come after the ECP revoked earlier notifications issued in July 2024 regarding PTI-backed candidates.
All these seats have been restored by the Election Commission in light of the Supreme Court’s decision.
