Arms, liquor case: Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Gandapur
A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case involving the recovery of illegal weapons and liquor.
Senior Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti presided over the hearing and expressed strong displeasure over Gandapur’s continued absence and failure to submit his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The court rejected a plea filed by Gandapur’s legal counsel seeking exemption from personal appearance, citing official engagements.
The judge remarked that the accused’s consistent non-appearance was hindering court proceedings.
“The accused is deliberately avoiding the judicial process; non-bailable warrants are being issued to ensure his presence before the court,” the judge stated.
The case has now been adjourned till July 19, with instructions for law enforcement to ensure Gandapur’s production in the next hearing.
