Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that both resistance and dialogue would continue simultaneously, but a final decision on the party’s course of action would rest with PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking informally to journalists at Kot Lakhpat Jail, Qureshi revealed that after two years of imprisonment, PTI leaders unanimously agreed that negotiations should be pursued.

“If we receive no response to our outreach, then protest remains our only option,” he warned.

Qureshi added that PTI had always wanted to hold talks with powerful quarters, but if the stance is that “politics is the domain of political parties,” then the party is ready to engage with politicians instead.

“Which government figure we will speak to, I’ll reveal at the right time,” he added.

The former foreign minister stressed the need for direct access to party founder Imran Khan for guidance and planning.

He demanded that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Salman Akram Raja be allowed to meet PTI leaders in jail to facilitate legal and political consultations.
