PM Youth Programme to distribute 100,000 laptops
The Prime Minister’s Youth Program is set to distribute 100,000 laptops this month to deserving and high-performing students on merit, as part of the government’s broader strategy to empower the country’s youth.
Chairman of the PM Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, announced the initiative during an exclusive interview with APP on Wednesday.
He also revealed that a comprehensive National Youth and Adolescent Policy formulated through consultations with youth representatives and relevant stakeholders is set to be launched soon.
“Our youth are the country’s greatest asset,” Khan stated, emphasizing that investing in young people remains a key government priority. The upcoming youth policy will focus on the “Four Es”: education, employment, environment, and engagement, aiming to address major challenges while creating new opportunities.
Khan also highlighted the growing success of the PM Youth Digital Hub, which now has over 500,000 registered youth and more than 10,000 local and international companies. The hub serves as a central platform for scholarships, job listings, and training programs.
To support overseas employment, the program is offering skills training to enhance the earning potential of Pakistanis abroad. Under the PM Youth Loan Scheme, aspiring entrepreneurs can access loans of up to Rs1 million on easy repayment terms.
The Laptop for All Scheme is also being expanded to allow students to purchase laptops through affordable bank installment plans.
Khan noted that more than 10,000 young athletes from Balochistan took part in cricket trials under the PM Talent Hunt Sports Scheme held in Quetta.
Moreover, selected athletes will receive professional training at academies nationwide, with opportunities to represent Pakistan in international competitions.
A 110-member National Youth Council, selected on merit, will serve as an advisory body to the Prime Minister on youth-related matters.
Additional initiatives under the PM Youth Program include soft loans for startups, innovation awards, and the soon-to-be-launched Pitch Pakistan Program, which will offer a national platform for young innovators to showcase their ideas.
Khan concluded that the government remains committed to fostering a generation of skilled, creative, and self-reliant youth through modern incubation centers and funding support for entrepreneurial ventures.
