Pensioners allowed to receive pension after re-employment
The federal government has allowed pensioners to continue receiving their pensions even after re-employment, provided their salary remains below the total amount of their pension, The News reported.
The decision offers significant relief to thousands of re-employed pensioners working across 36 government departments, including key institutions such as the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Supreme Court, Senate and National Assembly Secretariats, and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance had directed re-employed individuals to choose between receiving either a salary or a pension, prohibiting the dual benefit.
Last year, the government had made a 10-year duration for family pensions following the death of retired employees.
