Finance Minister departs for Spain to attend conference
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, departed for Seville, Spain on Monday to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), scheduled from July 1 to 3, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry, the high-profile conference will convene global leaders, policymakers, and development experts to discuss innovative and sustainable financing strategies aimed at accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly for emerging and developing economies.
During his visit, Senator Aurangzeb will represent Pakistan in various plenary sessions and high-level side events. On July 1, he is set to co-chair a Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable on “Leveraging Private Business and Finance,” and deliver a keynote address at the International Business Forum Policy Dialogue on “Accelerating EMDEs Investment: The Role of Credit Ratings.”
The Minister will also address the conference’s General Debate, and join discussions on “Revitalizing International Development Cooperation.” Additionally, he will speak at a UNICEF-hosted side event focused on mobilizing capital for children and youth through innovative financing models.
Senator Aurangzeb will serve as Chief Guest at a special session titled “Swapping Out Debt for Development: The DCS Financing Approach,” where he will highlight Pakistan’s perspective on debt transformation and the use of deposit protection schemes in development finance.
He is also scheduled to appear as a panelist at the International Business Forum’s event on “Scaling Up SME Finance,” where the focus will be on promoting financial inclusion for small and medium-sized enterprises.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister will hold bilateral meetings with senior international officials, including John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, and Steven Collet, Vice Minister for Development of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Finance Ministry noted that the Minister’s participation at FFD4 reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to advancing innovative financial solutions, deepening international collaboration, and amplifying the country’s voice in global economic dialogue.
