NDMA issues heavy rain, thunderstorm alert for Punjab, Sindh, KP
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in several parts of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next 48 hours.
According to the NDMA, various districts in Sindh—including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tharparkar, Badin, and Umerkot—are likely to receive heavy downpours.
In Punjab, upper and central regions including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Mianwali may experience rain accompanied by strong winds. Islamabad is also expected to be affected.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is forecast to witness heavy rains in districts such as Chitral, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Bannu, and Waziristan. The NDMA has warned of possible urban flooding in cities and landslides in mountainous areas.
Residents in vulnerable regions have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to take precautionary measures due to the risks of flash flooding and landslides.
