Acting US Ambassador meets Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi
Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie Baker met with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday to discuss regional security, counterterrorism, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Baker reaffirmed the importance of US-Pakistan ties, stating, “Pakistan is a valued partner of the United States. We attach great importance to our relationship and look forward to further strengthening our cooperation across multiple sectors.”
The discussions were focused on counterterrorism, anti-narcotics strategies, and growing regional security concerns, highlighting the need for enhanced strategic coordination to confront emerging transnational threats.
A notable part of the meeting was the reference to the recent interaction between Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and former US President Donald Trump.
Both parties viewed the meeting as a “positive development” for advancing strategic relations between Islamabad and Washington.
Minister Naqvi commended President Trump’s role in mediating a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, describing his efforts as “extraordinary and sincere.” He also acknowledged Trump’s previous contribution to the Pakistan-India ceasefire.
“President Trump’s impressive role in brokering peace between Iran and Israel, following his earlier contributions to the Pakistan-India ceasefire, will always be remembered,” Naqvi said. “We hope President Trump will also succeed in bringing about a ceasefire in Gaza.”
He added that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and resolving disputes, including the Kashmir issue, through dialogue and diplomacy.
Ambassador Baker welcomed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region and emphasized that the United States sees Pakistan as a key partner in South Asia.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of their commitment to deepen cooperation in the areas of security, counterterrorism, narcotics control, and regional peacebuilding.
