Lahore Airport to remain closed at specific times from July 1
The Pakistan Airports Authority has announced the temporary closure of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport during specific morning hours starting July 1, due to heightened bird activity during the monsoon season.
The runway will remain closed daily from 5am to 8am until September 15, as a precautionary measure to ensure flight safety.
The decision was made following a high-level meeting which reviewed the risks posed by bird presence in areas surrounding the airport during the monsoon season, especially during the early hours of the day when bird activity peaks.
All airlines operating at Lahore Airport have been instructed to revise their flight schedules accordingly.
Authorities have advised carriers to plan take-offs and landings outside the designated closure window and to consider check-in counter availability, aircraft parking bays, and lounge capacity while restructuring their operations.
