Met Office predicts rainfall in several areas across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The rain has ushered in cooler temperatures but also triggered power outages and flight delays, marking the onset of the pre-monsoon season in various regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Punjab, cities such as Lahore, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur experienced light to heavy showers, providing relief from the recent heat. However, the downpour led to power disruptions in multiple areas. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed WASA officials to remain on high alert in response to the ongoing weather conditions.

Air travel has also been impacted. At Lahore Airport, a flight from Istanbul was diverted to Karachi before being cleared to land in Lahore as the weather cleared. Several other incoming flights from Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Colombo, Dubai, Paris, and Doha faced landing challenges. Departures from Lahore to Jeddah, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi experienced extended delays, while a flight from Riyadh to Islamabad was rerouted to Multan.

Operations at other airports including Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, and Peshawar continue under cloudy skies.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more rain over the next 24 hours in several districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Dir, and Mansehra. The department warned of potential flash floods in streams and the risk of landslides in mountainous areas.

Recent rainfall totals include 24 mm in Saidu Sharif, 23 mm in Parachinar, and 15 mm in Balakot. Peshawar recorded a minimum temperature of 30°C with humidity at 76%, while highs of up to 43°C are expected in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.

Meanwhile, rain has also begun in central and eastern Balochistan, particularly along the Koh Suleiman range, marking the onset of the pre-monsoon spell. In Gilgit-Baltistan, rainfall is expected to begin today and persist through June 29.

Authorities have advised residents to exercise caution, avoid low-lying areas during heavy rainfall, and stay informed through official weather updates.
