The Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday approved 94 demands for grants amounting to over Rs896.47 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26, rejecting all cut motions submitted by the opposition parties.

The session was chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, during which Provincial Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani presented the budgetary demands.

According to the finance minister, Rs606.83 billion have been allocated for non-development expenditures, while Rs279.66 billion have been earmarked for development projects.

Out of the total 94 demands for grants, 53 pertain to non-development and 41 to development spending.

Treasury lawmakers hailed the budget as one aimed at the province’s development and public welfare.

However, opposition members criticised the budget and proposed cut motions, all of which were defeated by a majority vote.
