Ceasefire with Israel a victory for Iran, declares Khawaja Asif
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel a significant victory for Iran and a triumph for the Muslim world.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Asif praised Iran for what he described as a bold and resolute defence against a “far more powerful” adversary, asserting that the ceasefire reflects Iran’s strength and strategic success.
“Iran confronted an enemy many times stronger and defended itself aggressively. The resilience and composure of the Iranian leadership and people deserve tribute,” he said.
Calling the truce “a welcome development,” Asif noted that it marks the second major victory for a Muslim nation in recent times, the first being Pakistan’s own success over India in the recent standoff.
He suggested that these “twin victories” symbolise a broader shift in momentum within the Muslim world.
“Pakistan triumphed over India, and now Iran has stood its ground against Israel,” Asif stated.
“The ceasefire proves that Israel’s claims were baseless and that military might alone does not guarantee success.”
“These victories show that the Muslim world is capable of defending its interests with courage and strategy.”
He concluded by expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. “We pray for the oppressed people of Gaza. May Allah have mercy on them,” he said, underscoring Pakistan’s continued moral and diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause.
