The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued a show-cause notice to K-Electric after receiving numerous consumer complaints regarding prolonged and unannounced load-shedding, even for those who have paid their electricity bills.

In its official statement, Nepra strongly criticised K-Electric for shutting down entire feeders under the guise of targeting defaulters.

The authority noted that this practice is unfairly affecting bill-paying consumers, who continue to suffer power outages despite fulfilling their obligations.

Nepra emphasized that it is taking the matter seriously and expects a detailed explanation from the power utility, as public frustration continues to mount over the ongoing power disruptions in Karachi and surrounding areas.
