The National Security Committee (NSC) on Monday strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Iran and termed it as regrettable.

The NSC met in Islamabad under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to assess the evolving regional situation following the recent escalation between Iran and Israel, including US military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Field Marshal Asim Munir, senior military officials from all three armed forces, and key members of the national security and intelligence apparatus.

According to official sources, the NSC deliberated on the strategic and security implications of US and Israeli actions in Iran and their potential consequences for Pakistan and the wider region.

The meeting was briefed about Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to the United States while a briefing was also given on Pakistan’s successful diplomacy.

The forum also expressed concern over India’s threats related to water aggression, saying that Pakistani forces are keeping a close watch on Indian movements.

The National Security Committee reiterated its resolve to thwart India’s nefarious intentions and said that diplomatic efforts will continue to save the region from war.

Later in a statement, the National Security Committee strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Iran.

The committee described the attacks as regrettable and said that the Israeli attacks were fuelling tensions in the region, and that Iran has the right to self-defence under the UN Charter.

The NSC expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in Iran following strikes on its nuclear facilities and condemned the attacks as a breach of international law.

The forum extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Iran, particularly over the incidents at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The NSC emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering support for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to resolve escalating regional tensions.

The NSC said that Pakistan remains in close contact with relevant parties and is ready to continue its efforts and initiatives to promote regional peace and stability.

The committee called on all parties concerned to resolve this dispute through dialogue and diplomacy in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

The committee reiterated the need to uphold human rights and comply with international humanitarian standards, especially in times of armed conflict.

Reaffirming its commitment to regional stability, the NSC concluded with a strong pledge to continue Pakistan’s efforts toward peace and stability in the region.
