KP reports new cases of Congo virus
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported nine cases of the Congo virus, raising the total number of affected individuals in the province to nine.
The health department confirmed that the new cases originated from Bajaur and North Waziristan.
Health department records indicate that 3 cases of the virus have been reported from Peshawar, with 2 cases each from Nowshera and Karak, and 1 case each from North Waziristan and Bajaur. To date, 3 individuals have succumbed to the virus, while 3 patients remain hospitalized for treatment. Additionally, 6 individuals have been discharged after recovering from the illness.
In response to the increasing cases, the provincial health department has expressed concern and urged residents to implement precautionary measures and safety protocols during livestock movement.
Health experts recommend that citizens wear gloves and long-sleeved clothing when handling animals, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of the Congo virus manifest.
