OIC to meet in Istanbul on Israel-Iran conflict
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has convened an emergency meeting of foreign ministers on June 21 in Istanbul to discuss the escalating situation following Israeli aggression against Iran.
The high-level session aims to formulate a collective response from the Muslim world, with senior leadership from member states expected to participate.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to inaugurate the session with an opening address, while Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan will also attend and deliver remarks during the meeting.
Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is scheduled to arrive in Istanbul on Friday. Dar is expected to present Pakistan’s official stance on the Israeli attacks and emphasize the need for a unified approach among OIC members.
On the sidelines of the conference, Ishaq Dar is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several key counterparts, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, as well as senior officials from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Malaysia, Egypt, and Kuwait.
In a related development, the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir will also convene in Istanbul on Sunday to review the latest situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
These back-to-back sessions are viewed as a critical step toward mobilizing a coordinated diplomatic response from Islamic nations amid growing regional tensions.
