Fresh rains break sweltering heat spell in Karachi

Rain causes power disruption in many Punjab, Balochistan

Parts of Karachi received moderate rains on Monday after days of extreme heat and humidity, bringing a welcome change in the weather.

Rain was reported in Gadap, Kathore, Northern Bypass, and surrounding localities, while light drizzle occurred in Super Highway, Malir, Memon Goth, and Malir Cantt, helping to break the intensity of the heat. However, the humidity in the city persisted despite the rain.

Elsewhere in the country, weather conditions varied with reports of rain, thunderstorms, and even hailstorms in some regions.

The upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were particularly expected to receive heavy rain.

In Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, rainfall brought temporary relief from scorching temperatures. However, strong winds and rain caused disruptions in the power supply due to feeder trips in multiple areas.

In cities such as Sahiwal, Vehari, Arifwala, Sheikhupura, and surrounding regions, rain significantly reduced the heat, but also led to widespread electricity outages due to the power infrastructure being affected.

In Balochistan’s Loralai district and its surrounding areas, thunderstorms and rain helped cool down the weather.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat, Mingora, Malam Jabba, Kalam, and other regions, strong winds followed by rain turned the weather pleasant.
