Transgender person shot dead at Abbottabad wedding, suspect arrested
District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Tufail on Friday took swift action following the murder of a transgender person during a wedding ceremony on Nari Road, Abbottabad, leading to the arrest of the suspected killer, Tauqeer Ahmed, son of Nazir and a resident of Jhangi.
The incident occurred late last night when the accused allegedly opened fire on two transgender individuals: Zeebi, from Bhera, Sargodha, and her companion Binesh, from Lahore. Zeebi died on the spot, while Binesh sustained serious injuries.
Upon receiving the report, DPO Abbottabad immediately directed the Mirpur Police to apprehend the suspect without delay.
The local police arrested the accused and registered a case based on the complaint of the injured Binesh.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the suspect and the victim knew each other.
