Govt plans over 116,000 new gas connections in next fiscal year
In a move aimed at expanding gas access across the country, the government has finalised a plan to provide around 116,000 new gas connections in the upcoming fiscal year, despite the prevailing shortage of natural gas.
According to budget documents, 115,530 new domestic gas connections will be issued during the next fiscal year.
Additionally, the government has set a target of providing gas connections to 550 commercial and 350 industrial consumers.
The documents further reveal that 85,740 new gas connections will be allocated to Sindh and Balochistan, while 30,530 connections are planned for Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
SNGPL strikingly hikes gas prices amid cut in electricity rates
Under the plan, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will be responsible for supplying 30,530 new connections within its network area. The Southern Gas Company (SSGC) will handle 85,740 new connections across its system.
