K-Electric has submitted a proposal to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking a reduction of Rs4.69 per unit in electricity rates for power consumers in Karachi.

The request has been filed under the monthly Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) mechanism.

NEPRA has announced that it will hold a public hearing on K-Electric’s application on June 19.

If NEPRA approves the proposal, consumers across Karachi could receive a collective relief of Rs. 7.17 billion.

The proposed reduction, if implemented, is expected to reflect in electricity bills issued next month.
