Two minor earthquakes jolt Karachi Friday morning
Karachi experienced two mild earthquakes on Friday morning, marking continued seismic activity in the region.
The first tremor struck at 4:46am, according to the seismic monitoring center. It registered a magnitude of 2.7 on the Richter scale, with a shallow depth of 2 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the southern part of DHA.
The second quake was recorded at 8:32am and measured 1.5 in magnitude. It originated 7 kilometers northwest of Malir at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Both tremors were brief and caused no reported loss of life or property.
Experts stated that such low-magnitude earthquakes indicate minor underground movements and generally do not pose significant danger.
However, authorities have advised residents to follow safety precautions in the event of natural disasters.
Also, on Wednesday, two earthquakes were experienced in Karachi at 2:23pm and at 7:54pm respectively.
Since June 1, a total of 29 minor tremors have been recorded in Karachi.
