Karachi jolted by two earthquakes once again

Total tremors rise to 29 in four days

Karachi experienced a second earthquake on Wednesday, raising concerns among residents as the total number of tremors recorded in the city over the past four days has reached 29.

According to details, the latest tremor was felt at 7:54pm. The Seismological Centre reported a magnitude of 2.0 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 40 kilometres. The epicentre was located 11 kilometres northeast of Malir.

Earlier in the day, a tremor had been recorded at 2:23pm, with a magnitude of 2.1 and a depth of 5 kilometers. That quake’s epicentre was south of Malir, Karachi.

Both tremors were brief, and no loss of life or property was reported.

Experts noted that these low-intensity quakes are indicative of minor subterranean activity and do not generally pose any major threat. However, citizens have been advised to observe safety precautions during natural events.

It is worth noting that since June 1, a total of 29 minor tremors have been recorded in Karachi.
