PCB reveals ‘HBL PSL X team of the tournament’, Shaheen Shah named as captain
Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named captain of the Team of HBL PSL X following a remarkable campaign that saw him lead Lahore Qalandars to their third Pakistan Super League title in four years. The selection was made by the league’s commentary panel in recognition of Afridi’s outstanding leadership and performance.
Afridi, 25, played a pivotal role in Lahore Qalandars’ six-wicket win over Quetta Gladiators in the final at Gaddafi Stadium. He finished the season as the tournament’s top wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 matches, earning him the prestigious Fazal Mahmood Cap.

The Team of the Tournament features a strong mix of consistent performers and rising stars. Fakhar Zaman, who scored 439 runs in 13 matches with four half-centuries, and Sahibzada Farhan, the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 449 runs in 12 matches, were among the top-order picks. David Warner made his mark for Karachi Kings with 368 runs in 11 matches, including three fifties, while his teammate James Vince contributed 378 runs with a century and three fifties.
Quetta Gladiators’ Hasan Nawaz, named Best Batter of the Tournament, impressed with 399 runs, including a century and three fifties. All-rounders Sikandar Raza and Faheem Ashraf had strong campaigns, with Raza scoring 254 runs and taking 10 wickets, and Ashraf contributing 163 runs alongside 17 wickets.
Shaheen Afridi led the bowling attack, supported by Karachi Kings’ Hasan Ali, who took 17 wickets in 10 matches, and Peshawar Zalmi’s young fast bowler Ali Raza, who claimed 12 wickets in nine outings. Quetta Gladiators’ mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed added 17 wickets to his name. Khushdil Shah of Karachi Kings, with 253 runs and seven wickets in 11 matches, was named as the 12th man.
