Over four tourists from Gujrat district of Punjab have gone missing while traveling from Gilgit to Skardu, their families reported to officials.

They had reached Gilgit and Hunza a few days earlier in a white Honda Civic, bearing license plate, ANE 805.

The missing individuals have been identified as Suleman, Asif Shehzad, Umar Ehsan, and Usman.

The tourists made the final contact with their families on the night of May 15, when they departed from Gilgit for Skardu.

Their families confirmed that the last phone communication occurred near the Danyor area.

One of the missing individuals had informed his family that they were heading to Skardu.

They had stayed at Mohsin Lodge before continuing their journey toward Skardu on the morning of May 16.

Since then, their mobile phones have remained switched off, and they have not made contact with any relatives or friends.

However, police said the car did not pass through any of the security checkpoints along the route.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gilgit, Zahoor Ahmed, confirmed that police have expanded the search operation.

Authorities have alerted all checkpoints along the Gilgit-Skardu route, as well as the Special Branch and local police stations; however, officials have not yet found any leads.

Police sources reported that even after checking at various posts, including the Dambudas checkpoint, there was no sign of the vehicle.

Family members and friends have appealed to the public for help, urging individuals with information about the missing tourists or their vehicle to immediately contact the nearest police station or call the provided numbers.

One of the fathers has also appealed to the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister and other high-ranking officials to intervene and assist in the search.

Authorities have issued a special appeal to residents between Danyor and Dambudas to stay alert and report any unusual activity, vehicles, or signs in the area.

Gilgit-Baltistan has a terrain difficult for tourists to navigate in their personal vehicles. Although, weather was clear this time, in the past people have faced problems due to harsh weather conditions. In November, 2024, Pakistan Army rescued all stranded travelers and safely transported them to Gilgit Baltistan when over 145 travellers were trapped due to snow while en route from Gultari to Skardu via Deosai.

Last year, two Japanese mountaineers, Kazuya Hirade and Kenro Nakajima, went missing while attempting to scale the formidable K2 peak in Gilgit Baltistan’s Skardu
