Pakistan, China, Afghanistan agree to extend CPEC in trilateral talks
The trilateral meeting between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China concluded as all three nations agreed to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into Afghanistan.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed it after the conclusion of high-level diplomatic discussions.
According to official sources, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Afghanistan Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Each of the foreign ministers led their respective delegations during the discussions.
The extension of CPEC into Afghanistan is expected to enhance regional connectivity, promote economic development, and strengthen trilateral cooperation.
Beijing hosted a trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting today, featuring representatives from Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan.**
Accompanying Dar were, Special Representative for Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Head of Mission in Kabul Obaidur Rehman Zamani, Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, Additional Foreign Secretary Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, and other senior officials.
China was represented by Yi and the Special Representative for Afghanistan, while Afghanistan’s delegation included Muttaqi and Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce Ahmadullah Zahid.
